When presenting a new project for elementary age students it is important to have an example of the end product and clear step by step directions on how they will accomplish their task. I've learned that I need help the students take ownership of their work by giving them more responsibility in their learning. Providing them with the proper tools such as checklists, journals and access to appropriate websites will help them think for themselves.

Module 6 Reflection

Planning for student success is important because we want our students to feel confident in their learning and to be motivated so that they become independent learners. Giving them a checklist and letting them know what is expected will prompt them to be self-directed and hopefully will avoid the "what do I do now". This also allows students to work at their own pace, however, still follow a timeline.

Module 5 Reflection

Assessing student projects really made think about assessing throughout the lesson and not just at the end. Assessments don't always have to be formal. Students being engaged in the learning is important and many times we as teachers know that learning is taking place by observing.

Module 4 Reflection

In this module I created a student sample of what our measurement project will look like.
I think it is important to have a model to show the students what they will create and to relay the student expectations.

This module taught me how to use the internet for research and how to use different types of communications.

Reflection

I am feeling very overwhelmed at this point and I keep losing my place on the screen, however, I am really enjoying creating the project brochure and look forward to learning so much more. I hope I can keep up!
